Office Policies and FAQs
How are appointments scheduled?
We do our best to schedule appointments that work well for your family’s needs and our office’s availability. Dr. McCann requests that young children be seen in the morning to ensure that they are alert, and our team has the proper time to work slowly and gently for your child’s comfort. When booking appointments, please consider your child’s routine and academic schedule! Dr. McCann serves on the surgical team at St. Jude Children’s Hospital on Thursday afternoons and Fridays, meaning he is not physically in office scheduling routine appointments these days.
Dental visits are considered excused absences from school, and with regular care, we can help keep those visits to a minimum. Likewise, each appointment time is reserved specifically for your child, we ask that you aim to let us know 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer that appointment time to another patient who may be waiting. We understand that life happens, and if an unexpected conflict arises, we’ll do our best to find another convenient time for your child’s visit.
What about finances?
We understand that every family has a budget, and we want to make sure quality dental care remains accessible and affordable. Our team will always work with you to find the best options for your child’s treatment and your family’s needs. Unless other arrangements have been made in advance, payment is due at the time of service.
What about dental insurance?
Please bring your most up-to-date insurance information with you to each visit so we can keep your records current - if possible, please update your insurance information via phone call prior to your child’s appointment. Once we have your insurance details, our team will gladly file your claim for you!
It’s important to keep in mind that most insurance plans do not cover every procedure in full. After your insurance has processed the claim, any remaining balance will be your responsibility. Insurance companies are typically required to pay their portion within 30 days of your child’s appointment. If a balance remains after that time, we’ll send you a statement for the difference.
As a courtesy, we file insurance claims on your behalf; however, we cannot guarantee payment from your insurance provider. We’ll always do our best to help you understand your coverage and estimate what your plan may pay. If you believe your insurance company made an error, we encourage you to contact them directly to resolve the issue.
